Raftwood Hudson is crafted from railway sleepers, giving it a beautifully rugged natural appearance. Thanks to the wooden contours that these sleepers produce, every plank within the floor has a distinct individualised look and is a unique installation for each client. To maximise its lifetime the floor must be maintained by applying a coat of maintenance oil, ideally every 12-18 months, and kept clean to prevent stains from penetrating the wood.
ENGINEERED FLOORING
Engineered flooring is the perfect combination of practicality and authenticity. Constructed in layers, generally made from birch plywood, engineered flooring has a top layer veneer made from solid wood.
LAYERS
It's these layers underneath which provide engineered flooring with a greater structural stability than solid wood floors. This means that it's not as prone to shrinking or warping with changes in environmental conditions.
Due to this stability, it is possible for engineered floors to be installed using any fitting method, including nail, glue down and float.
It also allows for engineered flooring to be installed above underfloor heating, whereas solid wood flooring (in most cases) cannot.
TOP LAYER
The solid wood veneer generally ranges from 3-6mm in thickness.
